Twice-Exceptional (2e) Kids: A Parent's Guide
A twice-exceptional -- or "2e" -- kid is gifted and struggling at the same time: high ability in some areas alongside a learning, attention, or emotional-regulation challenge in others. The two halves mask each other, which is exactly why 2e kids so often get missed. The giftedness hides the struggle, the struggle hides the giftedness, and a report card that reads "average" hides both.
This is the hub for everything I've written about raising one. I'm not a clinician -- I'm a parent of three kids, including one who's 2e, writing down the systems that actually worked in our house so you don't have to start from zero. Everything below is free. Start wherever your hardest week is.
Identification & diagnosis
How the pattern first shows up, and what to do once you see it.
School & advocacy
IEPs, 504s, and talking to teachers at every age.
Emotional regulation
Meltdowns, rejection sensitivity, and restraint collapse -- and what actually helps.
Executive function
Time blindness, routines, and systems that stick instead of falling apart.

The long view
What changes as a 2e kid grows up, from a parent three kids in.
When you want the system already built
A lot of what's above eventually turned into a printable tool in theRaising All Kinds Etsy shop-- an at-a-glance weekly journal for tracking patterns across kids, an IEP & 504 prep planner, and a few others. The blog stays free either way.
Names and identifying details about my kids are changed throughout this site, and "Annie Hart" is a pen name, to protect their privacy.
