Who's behind this

About

I'm the parent of three kids, including one who's twice-exceptional -- gifted and struggling at the same time, in ways that don't show up cleanly on a report card. I started Solutions by Designs because the systems that actually helped us weren't on the shelf anywhere: the visual schedules and IEP binders I could find were built for one kid with one diagnosis, not three kids with three completely different sets of needs sharing one house.

This site is where I write down what's actually worked -- the executive function systems, the advocacy scripts, the sensory accommodations -- so other parents doing this without a manual don't have to start from zero. Some of what I write about eventually turns into a tool in theSolutions by Designs Etsy shop, but the blog itself is free, and it stays that way.

Names and identifying details about my kids are changed throughout this site to protect their privacy.
